General website privacy

The New Zealand GetReady website (the “Site”) is administered by the National Emergency Management Agency which is an autonomous departmental agency hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (the "Department"). This privacy policy lets users of the Site know when we collect personal information and what we do with it.

You may browse and access information contained within this website without providing any personal information.

If you provide information (including personal information) to us (e.g. through online forms), we will only use that information:

  • to administer, evaluate, improve, and secure our ICT systems, our website, and the information our website contains (ICT and website purposes)
  • to improve our services
  • to action or respond to the information provided and communicate with you
  • where such disclosure is required or permitted by law
  • as otherwise set out in any specific terms and conditions (e.g. terms and conditions for competitions such as the Get Ready challenge). 

We will keep any such information secure and may share it with third parties to the extent necessary for the services they provide to us related to the ICT and website purposes.

We have software to track which pages are visited to help us identify the most popular areas of our website. The information is aggregated and we cannot identify individual visitors.

Personal information collected by the National Emergency Management Agency for the purposes of a Competition will only be used in connection with that Competition or as otherwise set out in the Competition Terms and Conditions.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
