Those registered as individuals, households and apartment buildings will be entered into one of 15 regional prize draws and have the chance to win one of the following prizes.
Those registered as a primary school, composite school, secondary school, early childcare centre, tertiary institution, marae or business will be entered into one of 15 regional prize draws for a Civil Defence wheelie bin full of supplies.
Organisations registered as Other will be included in these regional prize draws.
The regional Prize Draw will take place on 9 November 2026.
Entrants much select a Region to be eligible. The regional Prize Draws are defined by the following regions:
The National Emergency Management Agency will use its best endeavours to contact each winner as soon as possible by using the contact details provided supplied in each Winning Entry within 5 business days from the Prize Draw.
If a prize is being delivered by a local Civil Defence Emergency Management Group, the National Emergency Management Agency will pass on the contact details supplied in each Winning Entry to the relevant Civil Defence Emergency Management Group. The Civil Defence Emergency Management Group will use their best endeavours to contact each winner as soon as possible by using the contact details supplied in each Winning Entry within 5 business days from the Prize Draw.
If the National Emergency Management Agenncy or local Civil Defence Emergency Management Group cannot contact any winner to arrange the delivery of the prize within a reasonable timeframe, they may redraw for the relevant prize.
Winners will be announced on this webpage.
All decisions regarding this Competition by NEMA will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Personal information collected by New Zealand ShakeOut for the purposes of the Competition will only be used in connection with this Competition or as otherwise set out in these Terms and Conditions.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong or ask for it to be deleted from our records.
If you are a prize winner, you agree to participate in publicity organised by the National Emergency Management Agency and you also agree to the use of your first name and school for publicity and promotional purposes for a period of up to three years in any media, without compensation. This includes, but is not limited to, social media and event websites and media releases in connection with the Competition.
The National Emergency Management Agency reserves the right to terminate, suspend or modify the Competition in response to technical failures, fraud or any other factors out of the reasonable control of the National Emergency Management Agency. Any such updates will be displayed on the this website.
