Civil Defence wheelie bin with equipment

5 to be won for Businesses and Organisations, Primary and Composite schools, Secondary schools, Early Childhood Centres and Tertiary Institutions.

Each registration will go in the draw to win one of five Civil Defence wheelie bins.

The bin will be delivered and stocked with a range of helpful emergency items to help your organisation keep people safe during an emergency.

Personal emergency grab bags 

Up to 16 to be won for individuals and families.

Each Individual and Family registration will go in the draw to win personal emergency grab bags for their household.

The grab bags will be delivered and will include a number of emergency items to help keep you safe during an emergency.

  • Competition period

    • The competition runs from 3 May 2021 – 28 October 2021.
    • Registrations for New Zealand ShakeOut 2021 opens 3 May 2021 and closes 11 November 2021. Registrations after 28 October 2021 will not be eligible for the prize draws.

    Prize draw entry

    • To enter the prize draw, each entrant must:
      • sign up for New Zealand ShakeOut 2021 before 29 October 2021
      • choose a Registration Group, and
      • agree to go in the draw to win a prize.
    • You may only submit one Entry during the Competition Period and each entrant can only win one Registration Group prize.
    • You are responsible for ensuring that any information provided as part of an Entry is complete and correct. Incomplete, incorrect, indecipherable, illegible or late entries will be invalid.
    • The National Emergency Management Agency reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of Entries and entrants, and to disqualify any entrant who submits an Entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the National Emergency Management Agency to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

    Registration groups

    ShakeOut registrations are split into the following eight Registration Groups. Each Registration Group will have a separate Prize Draw and Prize(s).

    • Individuals and Families
    • Businesses/Organisations
    • Early Childhood Centre
    • Primary School
    • Composite School
    • Secondary School
    • Tertiary Institution
    • Other

    Primary School and Composite School are combined for the purposes of the Prize Draw. The 'Other' Registration Group will receive either a "Civil Defence Wheelie Bin" for their organisation or "Personal Emergency Grab Bags".

    Prize draw

    Winners will be announced within 14 business days of the Competition Period closing.

    A winner for each of the following Registration Groups will be picked randomly from all the valid entries received during the Competition Period:

    • Businesses/Organisations
    • Early Childhood Centre
    • Primary School and Composite School
    • Secondary School
    • Tertiary Institution
    • Other

    One winner from each region for the Individuals and Families Registration Group will be will be picked randomly from all the valid entries received during the Competition Period.

    22 Prizes in total will be provided by the National Emergency Management Agency.

    The National Emergency Management Agency will use its best endeavours to contact each winner by using the contact details provided supplied in each Winning Entry within 5 business days from the prize draw. However, if the National Emergency Management Agency cannot contact any winner within a reasonable time, they may redraw for the relevant prize.

    Winners will be announced on the Get Ready / ShakeOut website and NZ Civil Defence Facebook page.

    All decisions regarding this Competition by NEMA will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

    Prize(s)

    A description of the Prizes are outlined above.

    One winning entry from each of the following Registration Groups will receive a "Civil Defence Wheelie Bin" for their organisation:

    Sixteen winning entries for the Individuals and Families Registration Group will receive "Personal Emergency Grab Bags" for their household.

    One winning entries for the 'Other' Registration Group will receive either a "Civil Defence Wheelie Bin" for their organisation or "Personal Emergency Grab Bags". The National Emergency Management Agency reserves the right to choose the Prize for the winning entry of the "Other" Registration Group.

    The prizes cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash.

    Prizes for the following Registration Groups must be delivered to a business address matching the organisation specified on the Entry:

    • Businesses/Organisations
    • Early Childhood Centre
    • Primary School and Composite School
    • Secondary School
    • Tertiary Institution

    General

    Personal information collected by New Zealand ShakeOut for the purposes of the Competition will only be used in connection with this Competition or as otherwise set out in these Terms and Conditions. You have a right of access to and the right to request correction of your personal information.

    If you are a prize winner, you agree to participate in publicity organised by NEMA and you also agree to the use of your name, likeness and image for publicity and promotional purposes for an unlimited period in any media, without compensation. This includes, but is not limited to, social media and event websites and media releases.

    The National Emergency Management Agency reserves the right to terminate, suspend or modify the Competition in response to technical failures, fraud or any other factors out of the reasonable control of the National Emergency Management Agency. Any such updates will be displayed on the ShakeOut website.
