Last year, over 765,000 New Zealanders took part in ShakeOut, our national earthquake drill and tsunami hīkoi (evacuation walk).

This year's ShakeOut day is 21 October at 1:30pm, but you can run your ShakeOut drill at a time and date that suits you.

How to ShakeOut

ShakeOut is a self-run drill. You can start it in whatever way works for you. All you need to do is Drop, Cover and Hold for 60 seconds and practice your evacuation if you are in a tsunami evacuation zone.
